Fiber remote and splitter settings

If the system includes fiber remote and active UHF splitter components, there are some settings that you may need to change.

From the main menu, select Fiber and configure as follows.

Table 1. Fiber remote and splitter settings
Setting Description
Fiber Remote

Attenuation

Select the check boxes to enable RF attenuation in the fiber remote unit (if this is connected in the system). You may need to do this if RF system experiences an ‘overloading’ condition. This can occur if the transmitter RF power level is too high, and the transmitter is too close to the downconverters or if you have some external interference.

Use the Connection Map to check what is connected in the system and select the appropriate check boxes.

Downconverter Power Status

Re-enables power if a short circuit is detected on the connections between the remote fiber unit and downconverters.

Splitter

Active Mode (Gain Boost)

Adds a gain boost into the splitter system when RF levels are too low. Use the Connection Map to check whether the system includes an active UHF splitter.

The numbers refer to which connections are made on the rear panel RF connectors. When selected, you get a gain boost, although the default setting is for these not to be selected.

If selected when RF levels are not too low can cause the system to overload/saturate.
