Update a Sony camera

This section provides guidelines to update a Sony camera. Below procedure has been tested on a Sony HDC2500 camera.

Important: You will need a standard USB drive formatted in FAT32.

On the drive place the unzipped MSSONY folder in the root directory of the drive. The path should read as follows: MSSONY/PRO/CAMERA/HDCXXXX with the files under the last folder.

Forced update procedure,

  1. Connect the USB drive that contains the version update program.
  2. Turn on the unit while pressing the RET 2 button and the rotary encoder on the front of the unit.
    The version of each version update data file copied in the USB drive is updated.
    Tip: The version update progress status is displayed on the viewfinder.
  3. Upon completion of the version update, a message “UPDATE SUCCEEDED” appears.

  4. Turn the unit Off and again On to confirm that the version has been updated on the “ROM VERSION” page of the DIAGNOSIS menu.
